Weekly News 22/11/2020

We're giving the team a break this week, so there's no Sunday Service from us.

If you'd like to find a service to watch, check out the SWBA website here.

Family Worship at 10am will be going ahead as planned. David & Chris will be leading us, and it would be helpful if you could bring a sheep of some kind (even if it's only  picture!). Get in touch for the Zoom details.

Advent & Christmas

Details of the services we've got planned for Advent & Christmas are now available on the church website here.

There may be some additions depending on how the restrictions change over the next few weeks. However, the main services featured here will be entirely online.

Advent Packs

Advent Packs

Throughout Advent our Family Worship time will be exploring the Christmas story using Advent Craft Packs delivered to people's houses. If you haven't already let us know that you'd like some for your children, please get in touch ASAP.

SWBA United Prayer Event

SWBA United Prayer Event

Christmas will be different this year in many ways but will, no doubt, still be a busy (maybe even chaotic) season for many of us!

Please join others from across the south west for this special Advent UNITED Prayer event as we seek to still our hearts and centre ourselves on Jesus as we pray with and for each other and for those in our communities.

This will be an opportunity to intentionally start Advent well and to cry out to God that the HOPE of this season is made known through the Church to a world that so desperately needs it… “O Come, O Come, Immanuel”.

SWBA Diaries - Doldrums

Are you feeling like you're in the doldrums at the moment? Does it feel like life's 'on hold' right now? Does it seem like church is stuck in a rut?

Carl Smethurst (Regional Minister - Mission) offers some encouragement from Psalm 27 for you and for the Church in the midst of the frustrations of the current 'lockdown' in England. We watched this video in our prayer meeting on Tuesday, and hope that you might find it helpful too.

Church Meeting

There will be a church meeting on Wednesday 9th December. This will be a chance to approve the budget for 2021, but also to share together and pray for the Christmas season. More details will follow shortly, but please put the date in your diaries.

BMS Prayers for the Week

Uganda is a beautiful country, with vibrant, hard-working people. Yet its socio-economic and political history has left the country in much need. Pray for BMS World Mission work  addressing this challenging reality.

- The Gulu legal team, led by BMS worker Linda Darby, has expanded its child protection ministry in local schools. They are now able to represent clients in court, as Jolly, their intern, has qualified as a lawyer. Pray for fair outcomes to trials.

- Tim Darby, a BMS water engineer, provides communities with deep, clean-water wells. Pray that this work will enable people to take good care of their personal hygiene, especially in the wake of the Coronavirus crisis.

- Pray for Benon Kayanja, BMS’ Uganda Operations Co-ordinator, serving in Kampala, and for Joe Ovenden, overseeing our work in Gulu. Pray that they would be wise and sensitive in their leadership.
