Collection for Refugees – Update

Once again this year’s collection for refugees has been a huge success. Many thanks to everyone who gave so generously, especially those of you who bought everything needed to fill the Dignity Bags and Smiley Bags.

This morning we delivered around 40 boxes (including 100 bags) plus some zimmer frames, crutches and bags of new clothing to one of the storage hubs in Somerset. From there everything will go to Worthing, where it will be loaded into lorries to make the trip overseas.

It’s not too late to give a financial donation to help cover the transport costs from the UK to the Middle East. Details of how to do this are available on the Samara’s Aid Appeal website.

Finally, on Sunday 15th October we will be holding a special, family-friendly service to mark the end of the appeal and reflect a bit more on the refugee crisis. The service will be at St. Peter’s School starting at 10.30am, and will be followed by a bring and share lunch – bring some finger food to add to the table. All are very welcome – we’d love to see you there!
