Over the course of 2016 we are inviting people to join us in praying together for the future of our church.
We are blessed with a beautiful chapel which has served the church well for the best part of two centuries. However, the building is showing signs of its age and maintenance is becoming increasingly problematic and expensive. At the same time, we are keen to find out ways in which we could be engaging with and serving our local community – making God’s love known in practical ways and inviting people to join us as we journey in our faith together.
Throughout the year we will be asking different questions and doing different things in order to help us hear what God might be saying. However, our prayers are going to be focussed around five key questions:
What would it look like for the kingdom of God to come in our community?
As a church what do we have to offer that is distinctive?
How is God calling us to serve and engage with our local community?
What sort of building would best help us to fulfil this calling?
What is the next step for us?
We want to provide as many different opportunities to pray as possible, with the following times being especially marked out for praying together:
Throughout the whole year there will be plenty of opportunities to respond and share what you think God might be saying. These responses will be used to build up a picture that will be shared with the whole church, so that we all have a sense of the journey that God is taking us on.
